Abby C. Sauer, MPH, RD
Abby Sauer joined Abbott Nutrition in 1999 and is currently a Section Manager within the Scientific and Medical Affairs department. She manages the Adult Scientific Brand Management team within Nutrition Science. Her team is comprised of clinicians, including dietitians and nurses, who provide global medical, clinical and scientific support for the adult therapeutic nutrition products including Ensure®, Glucerna®, and Jevity®. Her work includes supporting new product development, providing scientific and clinical substantiation for product claims, developing publications to support scientific evidence, and communicating scientific and technical information to consumers and customers. Her areas of experience include malnutrition, nutrition screening, assessment, and intervention, geriatric nutrition, oncology nutrition, and renal nutrition. Throughout her time at Abbott, she has been involved in various aspects of the business including medical affairs, clinical research and nutrition science and education.
Prior to joining Abbott Nutrition, Abby worked as a clinical dietitian in a variety of healthcare settings. She provided medical nutrition therapy to hospital patients including medical-surgical patients, ICU patients, and oncology patients. She also provided education and counseling to outpatient and community patients, including those with diabetes, gestational diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and cancer.
Abby is a frequent presenter on various nutrition topics and represents Abbott Nutrition at national and global nutrition meetings. She also frequently publishes nutrition articles for internal and external communications, and she serves as a member of professional nutrition organizations and work groups. Previously, she was a member of the Food Fortification and Supplements Work Group for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence Analysis Library.
Abby earned her BS in dietetics from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and completed her dietetic internship at Barnes Jewish Christian Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She earned a Masters in Public Health from The Ohio State University.
